Round Valley Reservoir Engagement Session

Rain pounded against my car. My windshield wipers traveled at high speed. Highway traffic moving at a measly pace of 20 mph. Filled with frustration, I voice texted Jeni that we would have to reschedule for the second time. Like many times before, I was traveling on I-287 through New Jersey, on my way to PA. I was traveling for a packed weekend. First stop, was in New Jersey to capture Jeni and Steve’s Engagement Session. After that, it was a full weekend of bridesmaid responsibilities, as one of my best friend’s was getting married. A month prior, when we had tried to set up a time for engagement photos, it was very cold and also raining (if anyone lives in the Northeast, you know how much rain we have gotten this past year).

Jeni and Steve reached out to me a few weeks after they got engaged. When Jeni and I were kids, we both attended the same Father/Daughter retreat with our sisters and our dads. My memories of our times together were kayaking on the lake, dressing up for the Saturday night banquet together, and staying up way past our bedtimes. I absolutely love meeting new clients, but there is also something special about capturing memories for people I already know. Jeni is currently pursing her nursing degree at DeSales University, not far from where I attended nursing school a few years ago. She is such a rockstar for planning a wedding while attending nursing school!

Thankfully, just a few days after our session got rained out, the weather was forecasting for a high of 75 and sun! I suppose with the northeast weather, the third time’s the charm. Jeni and Steve met me at the Round Valley Reservoir in New Jersey, along with Steve’s eleven-year-old daughter Hannah. It was so fun having Hannah tag along, and help provide some different photography ideas. Jeni and Steve, you two were a joy to photograph. Thank you for being willing to do whatever I asked you, and for being so flexible with your schedules! I am so excited for your August wedding!
