Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to go camping with some of my best friends to celebrate my friend Hannah’s birthday. We all piled in our cars on a Friday afternoon, and headed up to Hickory Run State Park. The trip started of as it naturally should, with us taking the long way, and than getting off at an Ez-pass exit only (and only my car had an Ez-pass). I have determined that my life is always a constant adventure, and something always goes not as planned. But that keeps life interesting, I guess! Once we arrived at our campsite, we set up camp! Growing up, I would go camping with my dad and sister, but I have never slept in a tent on the ground! I was so excited to experience a real camping experience!
During this busy season of life, 24 hours in the woods with friends was exactly what I needed! We set up our tent like champions, cooked hot dogs, roasted s’mores, and talked late into the night. Thankfully the rain held off until we got into our tent for the night. One of my favorite things is to fall asleep to the sound of rain-well that is if I am dry. I slept on the edge of the tent and since the rain poured against the tent at an angle, it managed to evade the rain tarp, pelting the side of the tent where I was sleeping. I had the pleasant experience of sleeping in a puddle and thinking I was going to get pneumonia due to the fact that I was sleeping in a really cheap sleeping bag. But everyone else stayed dry, so that’s still a success right?!
The next day, we went and checked out some of the awesome hiking trails! Prior to that we ate cake, made by the very talented Leah, to celebrate Hannah’s birthday! Due to the rain, we had to pack up early and didn’t hike very long, but we hiked long enough to check out an awesome waterfall! Overall, the camping trip was a success, and looking forward to future trips (but hopefully I will be dry on the next trip!) Here are a few photos from the trip!
