Quakertown, PA Family Session

So I am currently sitting here at 12 am, after a 9 hour work shift at the hospital, eating coffee cake. (For those of you who think I am so healthy and always running, you do not see the post-work stress eating that happens on the regular) 🙂 I had every intention of writing this blog post on July 22, 2018, the day my nephew turned one. But life happens. It is so crazy that it is almost August! Anyway, I wanted to sit here and reflect on the past year I have been an aunt-let me just say, being an aunt has LITERALLY BEEN THE BEST THING EVER!

Elijah Zion Rice was brought into this world on July 22, 2017, after my sister was rushed to the hospital to have an emergency C-section. I had just gotten home from young life camp (stay tuned for maybe a blog post about that in the future), and my sister called to say she was going to the hospital. The week before I left for camp, I warned my sister that she was not allowed to go into labor while I was gone-I just had a feeling she was going to deliver early. Thankfully, she waited until I got home, and I was able to see my nephew for the first time ever when he was just a few hours old. For the next 10 days, Little Bud was in the NICU. He was such a champ, but blood sugars of around 30, were what earned him a spot in the “hot box.”

But thanks to the wonderful doctors, nursing staff, and his wonderful parents, Elijah was able to come home from the hospital after about 2 weeks. I know for my sister and brother-in-law, those were some long hard days. Since then, Elijah has grown immensely, and has brought such joy and life to our family! For those of you who know my family well, know we are a very loud outgoing family. Well, Elijah is the opposite. He is most happy when he is with a small group of people in a quiet environment. Thankfully, he has adapted to our family a little, and finally seems to actually enjoy being around all of his aunts and uncles.

Currently, Elijah is rolling, crawling, and with the help of many, walking. He LOVES to eat, loves being outside, and loves his trucks. Sadly, he does not love the camera-yet-, which makes it very difficult for me to capture his beautiful smile. Here are a few of my favorite photos of him from the past year, and some photos from his one year-old photo-shoot. Love you so much Little bud!

Happy 1st birthday Elijah!!
