The air was cool. Birds were chirping. Family and friends eagerly waiting. The perfect evening for an outdoor wedding!
Now if anyone else got married on September 7, 2024, you would remember that it was not a nice day to have an outdoor wedding. But despite the rain and the cold, Meaghen & Nick had the most absolute stunning day! While the weather caused all of us to be creative, Meaghen and Nick still got to have their outdoor wedding ceremony (thanks to all of the hard work that Sarah from Rosewood Premiere Events did).
When I arrived around noon, it started to rain. And not just a slight drizzle, I mean a windy downpour that chills you down to the bones. But we all made the most of it. Thankfully the venue had no shortage of places to take photos indoors. One of their barns had the most iconic couch and rug, which made for the perfect spot for the bride and groom to share their private vows, along with some of their portraits. We got a few minutes of relief from the rain, but not much. As the day progressed, Sarah was watching the radar and came up with the brilliant idea to switch cocktail hour and the ceremony.
I was skeptical at first, as I had never shot a wedding where we did cocktail hour first. Once the guests arrived, they were escorted to the cocktail tent where they were able to immediately eat and drink. And thankfully, the weather cleared just in time for the ceremony to be outdoors! And I think everyone was happier since they did not have to wait to eat and drink.
And let me tell you, it was worth the wait! Most ceremonies are held during the hottest and brightest part of the day, making the light harsh and tricky to photograph well. But that was not the case with Nick and Meaghen’s ceremony. It was a gorgeous evening, despite the clouds, and a rainbow even came out for a few seconds during the ceremony.
I could go on and on about how amazing this day was, along with the bridal party and the vendors. But I will let these photos speak for themselves. Thank you to Meaghen and Nick for inviting me to be a part of your special day! And thank you to Bridget for being the best second shooter and for standing in the rain for hours with an umbrella so I could capture what I needed to while staying dry. Meaghan and Nick, I hope you cherish these photos for a lifetime, and I am so excited for you guys as you begin this new journey as husband and wife!
