Happy January friends! Can anyone else believe we made it through 2020? (Insert deep sigh of relief) I am so excited it is 2021 for many reason, but mainly for weddings! Lord-willing, this year, weddings will be able to be more back to normal and more frequent. As a bride who got married before the pandemic hit, I can only imagine how hard and devastating it has been for those trying to plan their big day. Masks, social distancing, and restrictions on numbers are all things that I never had to deal with as a bride, so my heart goes out to each and every one of you!
But before I get too deep into a rant, I just wanted to hop on here and share some wedding magic from January 2020. Little did we know how life was about to change shortly after this. Anyway, many of you may know I am from a family of 13. Last January I had the pleasure of photographing my older brother Matt as he married Kaitlyn, the love of his life. Matt and Kaitlyn’s story is similar to mine and my husband (Eric)’s story. Eric and I met on E-harmony and Matt and Kaitlyn met on Christian Mingle. Like most connections on a dating site, most people do not expect the first person you date to be the person you marry. But very quickly after Matt and Kaitlyn met, we knew it was more than just a casual crush.
Fast-forward several months and Matt proposed on April Fools Day. And no, it was not a joke! I was going to gain another sister! During their relationship, Matt relocated and moved down to Hickory, North Carolina where Kaitlyn was from. So, as a result, their wedding was in North Carolina. And to top it off, they asked me to be the photographer for their special day! What a gorgeous wedding day despite the humidity and the rain. If you are local to NC, check out Rock Barn Country Club & Spa for your wedding day! It was a gorgeous venue and the staff was warm and welcoming! If you’ve stuck with me this long, check out just a few of my favorite photos from the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Waterman.
