Independence, Missouri Wedding

Sprit-filled. God-honoring. Hot. If I had to describe Haleigh and Luis’ wedding day in just a few short words, those are what I would choose.

If you read my blog post a few weeks ago, you would know that I traveled to Missouri. You would also know that I shot engagement photos for Haleigh and Luis in downtown Kansas City. The true reason I traveled to Missouri was for their wedding (doing engagement photos was a bonus).

This wedding was extra special for me, because Haleigh and I have been friends for a long time. And thanks to some crazy circumstances, also known as God-moments, Haleigh was last minute able to be at my wedding three years ago! And better yet, she surprised me by showing up to my bachelorette party! So it was extra special for me to be at her wedding, especially since I had the honor of being the wedding photographer.

From the very little I had been told about Missouri, I knew it was really cold in the winter and really hot in the summer. But nothing prepared me for the heat and humidity of July 25, 2022. Not only was the heat index 105, but the humidity was almost 90%, making it feel like we were in jungles of Bolivia. But everyone handled the heat like champs. After a gorgeous outdoor ceremony, officiated by the Father of the Bride, we headed inside the cool air-conditioned church for some refreshments, toasts, and dancing.

If I had to pick a favorite part of the day, it would be the first looks. It is typical at weddings for the bride to do a first look with her dad and her soon-to-be husband. But Haleigh took it to the next level by also doing a first look with her brothers and grandfather. I could tell you about it, but I will let the photos speak for themselves.

Haleigh and Luis, it was an honor to capture your wedding day! Your marriage ceremony was such an honor to the Lord, and I pray that your marriage continues to bring him honor and glory. Although I selfishly want you to stay in the US, I know the Lord is calling you back to minister to the people of Bolivia. Love you guys, and I hope you cherish these photos for a lifetime!
